9/11 - and Good Friday God Pain and Power

Just thought i might post this video that was made a few years ago to illustrate a song that Iain Jamieson and I wrote about Good Friday, have a listen. Last year on Good Friday I was on George Street, with fellow minister Russell McLarty sharing bread and wine on the streets. This year I made a return visit to Inchcolm Island in the middle of the Forth to explore the possibility of arranging a Communion Service on the Island at the beginning of August. The idea is to use material written by the rock band U2 and weave it through a communion liturgy. I think there is so much we can do with the symbols of bread and wine to fulfil the command of Jesus "to do this as often as you will in remembrance of me" As I walked around the Island we walked through a tunnel that leads you another side of the Island. i was walking behind Neil one of my colleagues, his young two year old son was holding his hand tightly. It reminded me that when we walk through the dark places we need the re-assurance that God our Heavenly Father is closer than we might ever imagine.

I’ve never forgotten your story about the gospel preacher, which probably inspired the song. Pray that this is prophetic for our town and nation.
