A Ray of Hope Lights Glasgow

After a number of years in the planning we have reached the stage that 'Jubilee Hope' is ready to set sail for Lake Victoria. This is a fantastic achievement.  So many people have worked at so many levels to make this a reality. I need to pay tribute to Willie McPherson our CEO at Vine Trust. It is because of his vision and tenacity that we have reached this point. One day the book about the Trust will be written and Willie’s influence will be seen to have been the building force in so many of our successful projects.

We have so many people  and organisations to thank for making all this happen. If we were to name them many would stop supporting us. It is the striving to remain annonymous by so manyt of our supporters that continually humbles me.

As Advent begins and we face so many sad situations all around the world. Its quite a salutary thought that our wee ship will be leaving the Clydeside  to bring hope to some of the poorest people on the planet; at a time when so many of our fellow citizens face the tragic loss of loved ones  because of the helicopter crash last Friday evening which took place on the edge of the riover

On Saturday evening as the sun sets  on Plantation Quay a little ray of hope  will move off down the River Clyde into  the dark  virtually un-noticed by so many.  Yet it will become a bright beacon of light shining into the lives of hundreds of thousands who live in the shanty towns that have become islands in Lake Victoria.

Why not take a trip to Plantation Quay just a few hundred yards up river from the BBC Studios. Come and pay the ship a visit before it starts the  first leg of its  8,000 mile journey.
