Check Out The Bible After 400 Years

I thought I'd remind you what was on sale 100 years ago to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the King James version of the Bible. My mother in law bought it at a church jumble sale over 25 years ago and she gave it to me as a present. Yes tits a little miniature Bible chained to a lectern. It is so cool because you can even read it. This year sees the church in the UK celebrating the 400th Anniversary of this book which has shaped and changed the world. I refer of course to the Bible. I've been listening to the broadcasts on the making of the King James Version of the Bible currently going out this week on Radio 4 just after the news at 9.00am . Its an excellent programme and worth looking up and downloading the podcasts. It makes you want to start reading this amazing translation. As I said earlier this week we hope to be reading a section from the King james Bible every week during the year. I'm also encouraging people to join in with the E100 Plan. This is a challenge to read 100 memorable passages from the Bible over a 100 days. the organisers suggest that the challenge will be made more enjoyable if you read the passages out loud as the writers designed the language for public reading. I’m really getting taken back to my Free Church days with unaccompanied psalms and now reading from the King James. I was given a copy by my minister when leaving home in Oct ‘66 and still use it. Memories that are treasured.

Enjoying E100 too, especially using a study bible which brings out things I never noticed before.Fascinating.
