Faith is never blind.

Well I guess I'm going to lower the tone of the blog with this next video clip but in doing so I hope I'll make a serious point about faith. This clip is a few years old now. It is one of a series centred around a clueless minister. Sorry I know I'm resorting to stereotypes here but never mind. I hope you have a chuckle.
I got this idea for the video from the Alpha Course. I 've used it to try and explain that faith is not a blind thing it has substance to it. Too often when we judge someone we don't see the whole picture, perhaps the tail end. The man on the wall made a few big assumptions and he was wrong. Too often we do that with God. We think we know the full story and we often haven't even begun to understand the bigger picture.
Tomorrow I'm conducting the funeral of an 96 year old lady. She was one of the first people I met when I came to this town nearly 28 years ago. Her life wasn't easy. She nursed her mother, lost three brothers one of whom was in hospital for over 70 years. Today his illness would have been treated with drugs and he would have been out of hospital with a few weeks. Instead he spent a life sentence in hospital. Margaret visited him often every day when she retired, such commitment and loyality always caused me to admire this lady. I used to see her almost every day driving her little grey Fiat to the hospital. It takes faith and courage to keep going even when the odds are stacked against you. Yet when you remember that faith is about putting our trust in a God who has a track record perhaps its not a difficult as we might first suspect.
BOGLE'S PARAPHASES
The thing is at this point in time we are like people staring into a cheap mirror that is distorting the true image. However one day we'll see ourselves as God sees us, it will be like looking into a beautiful clear mirror. 1 Corinthians 13.12
