Sanctuary First is Changing!
This morning I was working with others to think more about how we can have a more vital witness on the internet as a church. I've strted to put up a weekly podcast highlighting the theme of the service for those who might attend the following Sunday. I think we need to become more proactive about Sunday Worship.
I'm delighted to see that Lorna Hood our current Moderator of the General Assembly has decided to open a Twitter account. I must admit I'm not as regular at twitting as I once was however now that I'm back blogging, no doubt I will start posting my blog link on Twitter in fact i think I'll put my weekly podcast on
This morning we were looking at a brand new concept around which to launch our monthly Sanctuary First Services. Come October we aim to be among the first to focus a worship service around the internet. It will be a service that people can download in short sections which can be played on their phone or tablet. We also hope that churches will engage with some of the resources we produce and have the option of using them within their own church context.
During my travels last year i noticed an increasing number of churches had invested in screens and video projectors. The great requirement today is for culturally relevant material and resources that can be shown on the screeens. A great deal of resources for screens have been produced for the mass American market. We need more hiome grown material. This will be part of the legacy I hope Sanctuary First will produce for churches in Scotland.
So keep your ears and eyes open for the news promoting the new look Sanctuary First which we hope will be up and running by the begining of October. Have a look at the current site www.sanctuaryfirst.org.uk and begin to support our endeavours.

In regards to the video screens… well, yes, they do help in communicating to the crowds through different media. Just like when I receive prayers and verses through email by Sanctuary First - cutting edge stuff. But, I must say, I am glad that the Word is always relevant, no matter how it is delivered. Its not is not always flashy or sensational, but always true.
