Shawshank Redemption

Shawshank Redeption I've started preaching through the book of Ephesians this Summer. This week I tackled chapter 1 verses 15-22. This is really quite an amazing epistle. I used the following clip from the film title at the top of this post, to illustrate that hope is currency that helps us journey in faith. We are all prisoners to our own fear. It is only when we dare believe that God is in the business of bringing good out of bad things that we can begin to trust His promises. Red had to begin to trust Andy if he was ever to escape from his own personal prison.Shawshank redemption has a great deal to teach us. Shawshank Redemption Clip The section I dealt with this morning was all about the apostle seeking to inspire the reader to realise that being a Christian is a way of life full of so much hope and promise. I was trying to explain the significance of the Holy Spirit for the Christian believer. In verse 14 we are reminded that the Spirit is the guarantee that there is something more. When Red went in search of Andy's instructions, he went seeking and he discovered the promise. He now had to make a decision to act upon the promise and meet up with Andy. A film like this challenges us all to leave our own personal prisons and step out trusting Jesus. there is great delight when we discover that he like andy delivers on his promises.
