The week after the wedding
This post was written on Tuesdayof this week.
Thank you to all the many friends who have left greeting and best wishes on my last blog post. Yes we had a great day on Saturday. Everything went according to plan the weather included.
However the work of the Moderator continues without relent. Sunday morning I was up at 7.00am after going to bed at 2.00am to get ready to celebrate with the congregation of Fairmilehead in Edinburgh, their 75th Anniversary. It turned out to be a wonderful service. The congregation are to be congratulated for all the hard work they have put into the year of celebrations.
What spoiled the day was the news that so many people had been injured in Boston on Sunday afternoon. How depraved was the act that took the lives of so many and injured others who were all trying to raise money for their favourite Charity.
It is at times like this we need to be able to draw alongside those who mourn and hold them before God in our prayers. I woke this morning knowing for others this week will be difficult and sad.
For me this will be a busy week making plans for all the engagements that are coming my way over the next five weeks.
Today the Church of Scotland’s Special Commission on Human Sexuality was published in the “Blue Book” which contains all the reports that will be debated at this year’s General Assembly. You can imagine the number of meetings that will be taking place between now and May as many topics are discussed and Commissioners begin to decide how they will vote on a variety of issues.
Meanwhile I have to prepare for an important meeting today more on Thursday and Friday before going off on an eight day tour of the Presbytery of Ardorssan which will be followed by two days in Skye.
The challenge is finding time to pack and also to pack the correct items. Add into this the fact that we have a family birthday to celebrate on Friday and you can see that life this week will be busy to say the least.
