I'm going to represent the Vine Trust at the funeral of Tom Dunn a retired naval architect who was strategic in making the dream of the Trust's medical work in Peru a reality. Some people make an impression on you not by what they say but by the things they do. Tom for me was one of those people.

There is never a dull moment in life of a parish minister. I was sharing with you my visit to London a couple of weeks ago. This was an opportunity to tell more people about the story of the Vine Trust and also to engage the support of big business and also parliamentarians as we go forward into the next 25 years. I've started writing up my experience of the Lausanne Congress. The theme of the congress was " God in Christ reconciling the world to himself " this text is found in 2 Corinthians 5.19 . Its an amazing text for it gives us a great hint about the nature of God.

Today we were given a research document that outlines the number of people groups in the world who have never heard the Gospel. Many of these groups don't have a language that has been written down. In other words people of an oral tradition.
This means that although we as Christians emphasise the importance of everyone having the Scriptures in their hands it means for these people to understand they need to be engaged by people who understand the oral tradition....

My colleague Neil MacLennan who heads up Sanctus Media the production company that has grown out of the ministry here in St Andrew's Bo'ness has worked his magic yet again and has figured out a way to allow our weekly streamed service to now be streamed on an iphone or an ipad. How cool is that? We recon we must be one of the first churches in the UK to be doing this perhaps in the world who knows?
