A certain member of my family has been pretty enterprising this Christmas she's been making chilli jam to sell in aid of the work of the Vine Trust. On Saturday night I got roped into cutting up the chillies. Nobody told me cutting up chillies could lead to an industrial injury. My hands were stinging burning hot for the next three or four hours. However the jam is absolutely chilli hot! It simply explodes in your mouth. The thing is I think this could go viral, I mean...

During Advent we've been thinking in our church services in Bo'ness about the important place reflection plays in all of our lives. We all need time out in order to get "time" into perspective. A good numbers started off simply as volunteers and as the work progressed they worked themselves into a job. I know its not easy for employers to find the cash to pay young people, but I think it would be important for congregations who would employ a...

Strike Out Unemployment Start With Your Congregation

Regardless of your political affiliation, its an interesting St Andrew's Day today. As I write thousands of workers from the Public Sector in Scotland and the UK are out on strike because they feel the new proposals surrounding their revised pension scheme is unfair. Another 2 million people can't strike because they've no job. This is the world in which the church is called to minister. The question is what would be an adequate response? The fact that people have...
