It was wonderful yesterday meeting up with family and friends that I haven't seen for many years. However it was also immensely sad for all of us to realise that we will never see Andrew again until we meet in glory. To believe in life eternal is the work of the Holy Spirit in all of our hearts. We arrived in Orkney on Saturday Morning and were met by David Fiddler the Moderator of the Presbytery. David is a Yorkshireman who has lived in Orkney for over 15 years. He came here to work and liked it so much that he stayed on into retirement.He is now an elder of the Kirk and enjoying training for the Locally Ordained Ministry.

I received a warm welcome from Alastair Macdonald. He is the business development manger for Ernst and Young in Aberdeen. I know Alastair pretty well we spent a week together travelling around Tanzania earlier this year. Well its back on the road again this afternoon after returning for a wonderful weekend at Balmoral. It was a great privilege to preach again at Crathie Kirk and to hear about the outstanding work that is being pioneered in that parish. We were glad of the later start on Thursday morning. It was good to be moving in home territory. this was a day when Crossreach would reach out to the organisations that partner them and also to new potential supporters. A lunch was held at Hopetoun House. Traditionally this is the home of the Marquis of Linlithgow. Today the Marquis has his private quarters in the House but the rest of House and Estate is run by the National Trust.
