Treasure On An Oil Barge

Well the grand opening of the Vine Trust Centre For Global Citizenship took place on Monday. It was just amazing how it all came together. I'm sure HRH The Princess Royal had an air of surprise on her face when she entered the barge for the first time. After all just over a year ago this vessel was an oil barge. Today it has been transformed into s designer barge which =may well be entered for an award. All this got me thinking on the passage I preached upon last...

Today is a big day for the Vine Trust after a long search for the right barge followed by a frenetic 18 months of hard work we finally reach the day when the barge will be opened by our Patron HRH the Princess Royal. Jolyon has been given a well earned honour by Edinburgh University. He has worked tirelessly to bring academic credibility to his subject and has sought to inspire theologians and students alike to think creatively and to engage with the power of the visual image. The theme of his lecture...

Just want to say how excited I'm feeling about the launch of our ten new home groups this Autumn. Its a real encouragement to hear people joking with each other as they make the pitch to persuade friends and neighbours to attend their group. We have chosen as our theme " The Essential Gospel Tool Kit" Its a kind of refresher course touching on the five questions that are asked of all of us when we join the Church of Scotland. In the tool kit is a reminder that we are...

Looking Back In Order to Look Forward

Its really quite amazing to reflect back over the years and consider how the role of ministry in St Andrew's Bo'ness has changed. When I arrived 30 years ago this coming Wednesday, with Martha and Sarah Jane, the church was closed for most of the time, except for a couple of hours on a Sunday and of course there was the odd meeting during the week. Believe it on not there were no babies and no creche. Oh its true we had elders who worked hard but the assumption was...
